July is a very busy month for us here at Golden Moments! Weather permitting, we love to be outside, take field trips to feed the ducks at the park, and enjoy the sunshine. It is also a HOT month! Caregivers can keep their elderly loved ones safe by following a few simple tips.
- Stay hydrated
- Stay in the shade as much as possible
- Protect skin and eyes from the sun
- Have access to air conditioning. Even if you do not have air conditioning in your home, many places offer “cooling shelters”, like your local library, or senior center, when the temperature outside gets too high
June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month! It is a time to show your support of the millions of individuals effected by Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. It is also a time to recognize those caregivers who show unwavering care and support to those with these diseases.
So wear purple all month! Participate in the Alzheimer’s Associations “Longest Day” Event on Friday June 21, 2019! (link below) Donate to the Alzheimer’s Associations research programs for advancing dementias. Or simply educate yourself on dementia this month.
